Hello, the unit requires 4 inches all around if you are placing it in an opening, however, if you are placing it in a trim kit, the trim kits that are made for this unit are RK56S27 (27 inches) or RK56S30 (30 inches). The trim kits do have the relevant space for the unit to ventilate.
