• Hi batchelder2560. The speakers are built towards the back. If you prefer a decent audio experience we recommend purchasing a sound bar for superior audio quality.

• I don't use hearing aids, but do have some difficulty understanding speech on most TVs. This TV is one of the best I've heard in that regard, and even has a setting to enhance speech. For a relatively small TV, I found the sound quality surprisingly good.

• Sound is so so, not great. I recommend using a sound bar or home stereo system with this for best audio output.

• one of my family has problems hearing in both ears but won't get hearing aids. They could hear this TV really well. The volume settings allow you to set it loud enough if you want. To be specific, the TV in my house is about 6 feet away from the couch. If that helps give you and idea.
