• Philc, I am assuming you are in Antenna Mode. Hit the * key, and the closed captions are in the menu on the left hand side. You can set it there to be "Off", "Always On, or "On Mute". In other input modes (like Cable box, DVD, etc.) you would control closed captioning through the source device like cable/sateliite box, DVD etc. Hope this answers your question.
