The TV has an inbuilt apps so you don't need the sling box. You only have to create your account and select the channels that you want. Some are free, and the others have to be purchased. I'm really enjoying it. All you need is a WiFi. You can even view your Facebook account .

Please try again later.I do not own this TV, but I have the similar Sharp LC-43LBU591U 43" 4K Roku TV and I can confirm that the iOS SlingPlayer apps are unable to "see" the Roku TV. My model of TV has both wired and wireless internet and I have tried both. When using wireless, when I enter the IP address of the Roku TV in the iOS SlingPlayer app, the app displays a message that it has "found" the Roku TV, but the TV is not displayed in the list of devices to which I can "cast." When using wired Internet, the iOS SlingPlayer app is unable to "find" the Roku TV under any circumstances. There are several reports on the Internet of TCL and Insignia branded Roku TVs also being unable to connect to SlingBoxes. I also own a Roku Express+ that is connected to another TV in the house and it has no problem connecting to my SlingBox. One solution would be to buy a $35 Chromecast and use that.

Please try again later.Hi There, I just bought a TCL Roku TV yesterday and hope to save money by without purchased a roku ultra, but the tcl roku tv does not function for casting movies or sport game from the slingplayer on my iphone 6 to the TCL Roku TV. I tried both wireless and wire ethernet cable. It only works if I use another app like youtube to cast movie or sport game to the TCL roku tv. I must pay extra money for buying another roku player for this inconvenience, so I use the TCL roku tv as regular tv now. Finally, the solution is that I must buy another roku ultra player. Please consider this experience for buying a tcl roku tv for this convenience.
