- Answer Hello, the USB port on this unit only supports smartphones and USB drives. If you wish to connect an external audio device to the unit, this is supported by the AUDIO IN port at the front of the unit using a 3.5 mm jack cable. - Answer Hello, yes, this unit can be used as a surround sound. You are able to connect an external device to the (audio in) 3.5 mini jack aux port at the front of the unit. When this is done the sound will output through the speakers of this unit.
