“Does this Sharp work as a stand-alone television with just an antenna or must I have Roku, Cable or Dish or some other device or service? Thanks so much”

it will work with just an antenna. However, whenever you turn the tv on you will be presented with the roku home screen. from there you will click on a tile that is called "antenna".
