Best way to hook up audio to existing stereo null

If you are hooking up to a AVR home theater use HDMI. If you don’t have HDMI on your receiver use a optical cable. Most likely labeled toslink or SPIF. Enjoy.

If your stereo is digital, use the digital optical cable. Otherwise, you can use the old RCA plugs. I have my dvd player hooked up with the RCA plugs and it works fine.
