“The light inside the oven, is it supposed to come on when you open the door? Mine comes on when it's cooking, but does not turn on when I open the door.”

Hello, the oven light only comes on during operation.

The interior light should be on while operating and also when the door is opened to make a check. If your not getting both then you have issues with the unit.

Yes, most microwaves function in that way. The light is to indicate that the microwave is running(though the loud sound is enough). My model does the same.
