Q: QuestionHow different is this mic from its predecessor the shure sm7b?

• A:Answer While they look similar, they are a bit different. Primarily, this mic offers a USB connection that makes it super versatile. You also have XLR and onboard monitor out. Overall mic does a great job with vocals and noise cancellation. Very good for voice/podcast recording. Shure software makes overall adjustments very simple for presence and tone. If you are looking for higher-end quality that made sm7b famous, you may want to stick with that and deal with the complexity of connecting and adjusting to your needs. If you want a simple and convenient option that works really well and sets up directly with your computer, this is a good option, I’m happy with this model.

Q: QuestionI want to use this microphone with a corporate laptop that is "locked down." 1. Am I able to configure my microphone on my personal computer, save the settings in the microphone itself, and plug it into my corporate laptop and have the settings work?

• A:Answer Hi - The MV7 has two separate options for connection, a USB or a standard XLR. The standard XLR connection would require an interface for computers and laptops to convert the analog into a digital audio signal. Using the USB option requires no interface and is compatible with a Shure provided free desktop app to either automatically or manually configure the microphone audio to your needs. Thank you!
