• No, this is an add on to the fire remote to give additional buttons like tv on/off and volume.

• You have to have a tangible remote to pair to the sideclick. So the answer would be no, yet you could always download the Firestick app to your smartphone to use instead (my grandchildren lost my son's Fire Stick remote & he had to do such). Hope that helps.
