Do I have to have wi fi for this product ? null

Not to charge the battery. A charged battery will be used in the camera which does need WiFi.

No this is just the battery. The camera it goes in needs Wi-Fi though.

Yes, the battery charges with the charger kit that came with the camera. We ordered extras to have as back up so switching out would not pause for a 5 hr charge time.

You don't need Wi-Fi for the battery. You need Wi-Fi for the camera to sync with the system base. An additional battery is necessary because the camera will deplete one battery quickly. This winter I'm getting approximately 2 weeks of life per battery.
