• A:Answer The Simplisafe outdoor camera twists to open. Remove the old battery, line up the new one so the contacts align, insert it, then line up the 2 parts of the camera so when you twist it back together those contacts will align as well. Then just pop the camera back onto its magmount and use the app on your phone to make sure it's looking the right way to capture movement where you need it.

• A:Answer Battery life depends on how often it gets activated. If it's pointed more out toward the street, every passing car will activate it. Every squirrel or bird moving past will activate it. You might want to get the solar panel. That works well as long as there's sunlight. Too many stormy days in a row and the battery will still run down. I have the solar panel and bought a spare battery just in case (because that first week there were no sunny days).
