Remove the old battery, line up the new one so the contacts align, insert it, then line up the 2 parts of the camera so when you twist it back together those contacts will align as well. You might want to get the solar panel. That works well as long as there's sunlight. Too many stormy days in a row and the battery will still run down. I have the solar panel and bought a spare battery just in case (because that first week there were no sunny days).
