• To save any video, yes, you would have to subscribe at minimum $4.95/mo. From the conversations I had, video is stored on their server and there is no way to locally record it. That was my mistake thinking I could. Camera quality/features are fine. If you own a Simplisafe system already. it's a fine addition. But it's not really a standalone.

• No. Its vwry easy to connect to your phone with the simplisafe app. You just scan the barcode on the camera.
