Q: QuestionWhat is the height of the white device that's attached to the inside of the door?
Asked by DJAY.

Q: QuestionCan I unlocked door from my phone without being buy by it ? Also what if I loss electric or wifi or the key pad acts up can I unlock it ?
Asked by Anonymous.
This question was asked about the related product: SimpliSafe - Smart Lock - Compatible with Gen 3 home security system - Black
- A:Answer With a SimpliSafe subscription and the phone app (or access to your account via the website), you can lock/unlock the door from anywhere in the world. The lock is battery-powered so it is unaffected by power outages. The lock itself does not use WiFi. It communicates with the SimpliSafe base station via its proprietary wireless network. The SimpliSafe base station also has built-in backup batteries, so during a power outage, it will operate until they discharge (a day or more depending on battery health and usage). The base station also has a backup cellular modem, so even if WiFi is lost, as long as the cellular modem has a signal, you can still operate your SimpliSafe system remotely.

Q: QuestionDo you have to have a base for this to work and do you need a subscription to the security system
Asked by Ash.
- A:Answer You do need the base for this to work. The lock itself does not connect directly to the WiFi and uses the base to enable the smart functionality. That said, the monitoring plan is not required. As far as I am aware, SimpliSafe doesn't require the monitoring plan to use any of their equipment.

Q: QuestionCan this be used on a sliding glass door?
Asked by Kg.
This question was asked about the related product: SimpliSafe - Smart Lock - Compatible with Gen 3 home security system - Black
- A:Answer Probably not unless the door uses a standard deadbolt style lock. It's possible that the SimpliSafe lock could be adapted to mechanically operate the "thumb latch" on a sliding door, but the door's frame is likely not wide enough to accommodate the housing.

Q: QuestionIs this water proof?
Asked by Anonymous.
This question was asked about the related product: SimpliSafe - Smart Lock - Compatible with Gen 3 home security system - Black
- A:Answer The electronic lock mechanism itself is not "weatherproof", but since it mounts on the inside of the door, it should not need to be. Nothing on the outside of the door changes - it retains the outside keyed portion of your deadbolt lock. They wireless keypad can be mounted anywhere (within range of the SimpliSafe base station) and is "weatherproof".

Q: QuestionDoes this lock have a Bluetooth feature to automatically unlock if you have your phone with you? Or do you always have to manually punch in a code?
Asked by Jay.
This question was asked about the related product: SimpliSafe - Smart Lock - Compatible with Gen 3 home security system - Black
- A:Answer If you subscribe to the SimpliSafe service, you can use the phone app to lock and unlock. It's not Bluetooth - it's WiFi via the SimpliSafe cloud, so it works from "anywhere". The keypad has a "lock" button, so it can always be locked with a single press of that button (i.e. the code is not required to lock the door).

Q: QuestionCan this be installed on a den that has double doors/french doors?
Asked by GREAT.
This question was asked about the related product: SimpliSafe - Smart Lock - Compatible with Gen 3 home security system - Black
- A:Answer Yes, as long as the door accommodates a deadbolt lock, and the other door has it's own locks to keep it secured the the frame (most do work this way). I installed this on my front door which is a double "French" style door. The left side door has upper and lower levers on it that lock it to the frame. The right side door has the knob and deadbolt, and that is where I installed the SimpliSafe lock. It just replaced the inside component of the existing deadbolt.

Q: QuestionWe only use the alarm system while we are away, even though we normally keep the doors locked while we're home. I understand that the lock shuts off when the alarm is deactivated. Is there a way to keep the doors locked while the alarm is off?
Asked by donj.
This question was asked about the related product: SimpliSafe - Smart Lock - Compatible with Gen 3 home security system - Black
- A:Answer It stays locked unless you open it when it's off, you can set up silent notifications for when it's opened or closed when it's off... The only other reason it would open when it's off is if you have it set to unlock when the alarm is turned off... You could add a second and third layer of security by adding a simplisafe pro doorbell camera and having a locked storm door... Not certain of I answered your question, but tried...
