I would think this has more to do with the audio options on your ipad. Usually if a Bluetooth device is connected to something, is disables the normal speakers.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Most devices (laptops and pcs especially) will cut off either one of a device if you're using the audio jack and bluetooth at the same time. What I did on a long flight was use the good 'ol mini-jack splitter so my wife and I could watch movies on my Surface Pro 3. Hope this helps.
