30 ft is about right but it really depends on what is in-between you and your source device. Walls are almost never an issue but bodies ( even your own ) tend to disrupt the Bluetooth signal.

I have Bluetooth speakers I can go a ways a way from 10-25 feet and work fine but sometimes with other Bluetooth or wireless items in the path it can be limited to less than 3 feet.
