“How close to a cell tower must you be in order for it to work? If I was in the middle of one of our national parks and miles from the nearest tower and wanted to send photos or a message would this work?”

Probably not. We are about 20 miles outside of Steamboat Springs, CO with a strong 3G signal and the hotspot will not work. I called the help line twice and they told me the signal was too weak. Works well in Steamboat Springs with a LTE signal.
