No they do not. Regular coils will get very hot, upwards of 1700 degrees F. At that temperature virtually all cooking oils can auto ignite and cause a fire. Smart Burner will not exceed 667 degrees F which is well below the auto ignition point of most cooking oils. Another aspect of Smart Burner is that it's made of Cast Iron so it holds the heat better and allows for a more even cooking experience while helping you reduce your energy consumption as well.
