Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.My personal preference is the 8 inch over the 6 1/2. I purchased both and the 8 inch had more base and had a fuller sound. Both 6 and 8 are fairly bright sounding so that played a part in the decision as well. From a mechanical standpoint, generally speaking, the larger the driver, the more sound. Realistically as a surround the 6 1/2 really is sufficient especially if mounting space and desired placement is tight. I also wanted to use these as 6 channel stereo so that was part of the sway also. If the extra cost and mounting space isn't an issue then absolutely I would choose 8 inch. Also your Denon receiver clearly is more capable than my Denon 700 which has enough power to drive those speakers 6 or 8. The directable woofer and tweeter are a very nice feature as well.
