“I have a traditional wired sound system (and i want to keep it that way) by Onkyo. I cant use Alexa to control it. If i purchase the Sonos Boost, will that enable Alexa to control my stereo?”

No. This does not have Alexa enabled. Just use Alexa dot and use a 3.5mm cable from Alexa dot to connect to your onkyo and then simply use Alexa to play music

Sorry, no Boost enhances your WI-Fi and does not have Alexa capability.
