It works while plugged in and resting in the charging base. Not sure if the battery is replaceable.

It cannot be charged via usb-c until there is a little bit of a battery charge. If you are currently experiencing a total loss of battery and have already tried setting it on the cradle, we would recommend reaching out to us at sonos.com/support
