Depending on how far away the source was from the speaker, a lot of speaker wire/cable would need to be used.
Wireless speakers still need a power source (A/C plug or D/C battery) to run the speaker, but the communication, or what it is you want to listen to, is done wirelessly.
So, no long speaker wire runs are needed, just an electrical outlet nearby where you want these speakers to be, and the content is sent wirelessly through the air. It's a cleaner set-up this way.
