I would definitely buy the Sonos sub to compliment the playbar. Believe me when I tell you that by adding the sub it changes the sound completely. You WILL notice the thump/bass while watching movies or playing music.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would strongly recommend two rear surround speakers. I purchased the Sonos 1s since I had a Sonos playbar already.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can connect Just one but two would really be for surround
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No you need the Sonos speakers sound bar and sub and then you could add rear speakers later
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can add an extra Sonos speaker in the same room and have it play the same music, or different music from the Sonos sound bar. However, with only one speaker besides the sound bar, the audio will only be duplicated on the smaller speaker and not in a surround sound mode. If you have one of the Sonos sound bar options, you will need purchase two additional Sonos speakers to pair with the sound bar as rear right and left speakers for surround sound with a TV if that's what you are looking for ( Cheapest options are the Play 1, Sonos One, Sonos One SL). You can't pair a Play 1 with a Sonos One, or Sonos SL. You can pair a Sonos One with a Sonos SL. You can also add the Sonos Sub to get the optimal 5.1 surround experience.
