QuestionI have an indoor tv with 5.1 sound set up and a cable box& outdoor tv setup w/ 2nd cable box & I am wanting to use 2 outdoor speakers for the sound. Can I hookup both cable boxes to this receiver and have each box audio sent to it's respective speakers?

QuestionPurchased this receiver with the Sony Core Series 10" 115W Active Subwoofer and was given a single rca to single rca cable with the subwoofer, the receiver has a 2 rca output for subwoofer and i cant get the connecion to work?

QuestionHello, I just bought a new Denon AVR-S750H and is very disappointed with it and will be returning it for a refund! Reason is the unit will not pass any video from any cable box receiver because of HDCP 2.2 issues! Verified by Denon! Will this unit work??

QuestionI have a sub, a center bar, two fronts(L+R), surround (L+R), and ceiling speakers(L+R) with nothing hooked up in zone 2 at the moment. Is there anyway I can attach the rear speakers (L+R) to to zone 2 and have it all play the same movie/output?

QuestionWhen using the Bluetooth transmit to headphones/speaker function, is there a noticeable lag between the picture and the sound? Does speech match up with the actors mouth moving?

QuestionI’m hoping to use the 2 HDMI outputs like this: One goes to a projector for the video, the other goes to a Sonos Arc sound beam for an eARC connection from Dolby Atmos. Will this receiver work for that?

- Answer I spent a couple of days trying to get a similar setup working. I have a Google Chromecast with Google TV connected to HDMI-IN CATV port on DN1080. I have the DN1080 HDMI-A-OUT port connected to my Sony 8AH TV's eARC port. I have the DN1080 HDMI-B-OUT port connected to my Sony HTST5000 soundbar's HDMI1-IN port. I played around with the DN1080 HDMI settings and Zone settings, and I could only manage to get audio out on my DN1080 speakers separately from my soundbar. I could not get both the wired speakers and the soundbar going at the same time. Is it because one output device is video and the other is audio? I thought the DN1080's "HDMI Zone" functionality would handle this scenario based on this (https://helpguide.sony.net/ha/strdn108/v1/en/contents/TP0001224850.html) and this (https://helpguide.sony.net/ha/strdn108/v1/en/contents/TP0001224916.html) from the DN1080 User Guide.

QuestionI connected the Sonos Port i am trying to play it out of my Zone 2 speakers which are outside. I directed the receiver to play the correct audio feed (Sa/cd) and i am trying to adjust the volume setting for zone 2 but it maxes out.

- Answer Hi Palpatine, Set the volume control for Zone 2.Press HOME, then select [Setup] – [Zone Settings] – [Zone2 Line Out] – [Variable] or [Fixed] If you select variable, The volume for the ZONE 2 OUT jacks can be changed. Select this when using another amplifier that does not have volume control. For fixed, the volume for the ZONE 2 OUT jacks is fixed. Select this when using another amplifier with variable volume control. Check the link below for more details regarding your concern. QuestionHave 1 pair of ceiling spkrs ( 8 Ohm) in each of 5 rooms. Zone 1 for TV room and zone 2 for other 4 spkr pairs. Can 1080 run all the 5 pairs of spkrs at one time w same media? Also, can sound bar be used with ceiling spkrs in Zone 1 for Atmos effect?

- Answer Hi Brucie, Thank you for the interest! You cannot connect a soundbar to this AV receiver. The ZONE 2 component output jacks on the Audio/Video (A/V) receiver will output analog video signals only. To output a signal from the ZONE 2 jacks, the source device must be connected to one of the composite or component inputs on the A/V receiver. NOTE: You cannot watch video in Zone 2. Sound is not available from devices connected to the HDMI IN jacks. Signals from the HDMI IN, OPTICAL IN and COAXIAL IN jacks cannot be output to the speakers in Zone 2. - Answer Hi Merlin, Unfortunately, we’re pretty sure the system you reference is not designed to be used with a AV/receiver. You can connect 2 active subwoofers on this AV receiver on the subwoofer out jack using subwoofer cable. Take note that subwoofer with a nominal impedance of 6 ohms to 16 ohms can only work with the STRDN1080. For help with some of the settings or sound configuration, please check out the Sony support website. Regards, David

QuestionI have sony STR-DN1080 receiver and using 2 floor speakers and a sub woofer . Receiver runs super hot to the touch at 40 % volume and at 41% the protection comes on and shuts the receiver off. Do I need fans on top of the receiver or smaller speakers ?

QuestionWhat is the real RMS power output from this receiver. The AC line power is only 240 watts which restricts the receiver to no more that 240W providing the receiver was 100% efficient. Since that is not possible whats the real output power?

- Answer according to the manual, minimum RMS output power is 100 w + 100 wl, Stereo mode output power is 120 w + 120 w and surround mode output power is 165 watts per channel and yes there are ideal conditions for these
