• Theoretically since they are both digital signals should be identical. As a preference I use fiber optic cable

• Hi natle, They're basically the same because they both carry digital audio signal however, HDMI is much recommended because it carries both digital video and audio signals. Thanks, >Joffrey

• I got my connected through both hdmi and optical with great sound coming out
