Hi ljlt, HDCP 2.2 pertains to copyright-protected contents. To view copyright-protected 4K content, connect the devices via an HDCP 2.2 compatible HDMI jack on each end. Copyright-protected 4K content can be viewed only by a connection via HDCP 2.2-compatible HDMI jacks. You can watch any program as long as it doesn't have copyright-protection. Thanks, >Joffrey

I set mine up with all my components plugged into the tv, and then set the tv to use external speakers. Seems like you could do that and still get the 4K picture quality. Hope that helps.
