Great pairing with Sony 4K UHD TV

Purchased to pair with our new 70" Sony Bravia XBR70 X850B Ultra HD TV. This sound bar paired seamlessly with the TV, all connections for other periferals (BluRay, Apple TV, etc.) plug into the soundbar itself. My only complaint about everything plugging into the soundbar is that you have to set the the input device via the sound bars remote, verses the TV remote. However, any remote used to turn the TV on does automatically turn on the soundbar, which is convenient.
Sound is superb, for the price point. The room we have this set up, is approximately 12' x 22' and the soundbar and subwoofer fill the room with cinematic quality sound. Voices are crisp, you can sense the stereo/simulated surround, and the bass is deep and intense. We have the wireless sub hidden away behind the couch, which is nice and doesn't distort any of the sound generated by the system.
The design of the soundbar is slim enough to fit nicely right in front of the TV, with minimal coverage of this Sony TV's IR remote sensor. We elevated the TV an inch with some laminated lumber so we could fit the soundbar completely underneath the TV, works/looks great.
Overall, the sound quality, design and functionality was perfect for our new UHD TV, providing cinematic sound and complete integration of all input devices. Highly recommended pairing with a Sony Bravia UHD TV.

I have this sound bar hooked up to my 55" Sony x850c and I absolutely love the way it sounds. The wireless subwoofer can still connect to the TV from quite a distance; I have it plugged into an outlet in the corner behind where we sit so it gives a better surround sound effect.
The multiple hook up options on this sound bar are great. It has quite a few HDMI inputs, and even an auxiliary. I use Bravia sync through an HDMI hookup with my TV. This sound bar is very low profile, it fits right under my TV and I like how it comes with mounting brackets so you have the option to mount it as well.
Overall this sound bar is great, and you get fantastic Sony sound for a decent price. This is a much better option than TV speakers.

Decided to get a soundbar to replace the computer speakers I had for my Sony All In One, and boy did I pick right. I originally purchased the HTCT380, the smaller, lower end model but when an open box for this model came available, I had to jump on it. It connects in a few minutes, anyone should be able to do it themselves. The sound is phenomenal, good bass from the wireless sub. Only qualms would be the remote, you definitely need to read the manual to figure out what some of the features are on there. Other than that, happy with this purchase. Paying over $100 less than the sale price pushed this from a 4.5 star purchase to a 5 star. The next best SOUND BAR in my opinion costs triple this one so I definitely recommend this over any other sound bar at this price point.

I recently purchased the HTCT780 and I must say that is total value for money. The sound is amazing and the floor vibrates in action scenes. This comes with a wireless subwoofer and gives a real good punch. This is a 2.1 speaker but the sound is like a 5.1 channel. In our 2nd week we had a security cop on our door at night since someone complained of loud noise. So that proves that this speaker does the job. It offers different sound modes like movie, music, gaming etc and you can select it as per your liking. It also offers HDMI input which is a rare in many sound bars in this price range. You can also get this for almost half the price in open box which is value for money. Go for this latest Sony HT780 sound bar and you won't be disappointed.

Initially was going to go the traditional route of Power amp and speakers. After listening to this sound bar, with a wireless subwoofer and Bluetooth to connect my ipod, I'm extremely happy with this option. Sounded even better in my home which is an open design. Sound is crisp no matter where I walk in the living room, dining room and kitchen. Ditch the five speakers and where to put them and not see wires and get this sound bar instead.

A had a true surround setup with speakers spread out all over the room powered by a receiver.
I wanted something a little simpler since I now live in a condo, but still have some surround effect. I am very happy with this bar. Watching tv now is more enjoyable. The sub really makes you feel the action, the voices are clear. My xbox sound improves immensely. I also like the fact that the bar is equipped with 3 hdmi for all my equipment.

This review is for the Sony HT-CT780
I bought this because I had a previous Sony soundbar and liked that you plug your source devices into it and then send one HDMI to the TV. This one does the same, with several advantages over the old HTCT100. The subwoofer is wireless, the display is on the bar, not the sub, and if the sound bar is turned off it passes the HDMI signal through. These are all very useful features.
That being said, the sound is ok but not great. I was hoping for more voice clarity in the settings since my ears aren't so young as they used to be. Also, the base level adjustment goes from not enough to too much pretty quickly, so it's a bit hard to dial it in.
I really like the bluetooth; it was easy to set up with my iPhone and music sounds pretty good on this system but I'm no audiophile.
One downside: I use this with a Samsung SmartTV. If you use the Audio Return Channel (ARC) HDMI feature with your cable box (or whatever) plugged in to the soundbar, the soundbar source changes from the cable box input to TV about 20 seconds after turning the system on, which turns off the sound. You have to change the soundbar input manually back to the cable box input and then it's fine until the next time you turn on the system. The solution for me was to use an optical audio cable from the TV to the soundbar. Kind of disappointing since I was trying to minimize cables to the TV. I don't think there's any difference in sound quality between the optical and ARC, but someone on the internet may disagree.
Overall I recommend this soundbar, especially if you like the idea of one HDMI to the TV.

This product is wonderful! I have it set up in my home theater room and it is loud enough and has great sound/bass. The best feature is that you plug in all of your HDMI cables (even for video) and it acts as the brains of your home theater. I would highly recommend!

After reading reviews on other models I stumbled upon the Sony while checking them out at Best Buy. I has very surprise on how much better it sounded vs more expensive brands. I had to double check to see if it was the correct model as priced. It was. Very cinematic. Full, thick low end. Voicing was not "honky" or "nasally". The blue tooth option worked perfectly so I could play music from my phone. I wish they had a curved model ( same quality, sound & price ) because I would've bought it for our curved TV as well. Well worth $399. Don't blow your $$ on a $199-$250 model. Once you hear the two side by side. There's no comparison.

I purchased this product to replace an older 7.1 AV Receiver. This unit sounds every bit as good if not better. It's a lot easier to manage/configure and takes up a lot less space. In short, it exceeded my expectations.

Purchased a Vizio M-Series and needed added sound to compensate for busy street noise. Looked at over 8 sound bars (Bose, Samsung, etc.) The Sony by far was the best choice. For the price you get dynamic clear and crisp sound, nice lows, and easy set-up. Not to mention Bluetooth and a wireless sub. The various settings allow to change the sound for music, sports, movies, and the separate Sub control is an added bonus. Highly recommended!

I spent about 3 hours listening to the various sound bars available at BestBuy and decided that the Sony HTCT780 had the best overall sound for the money. I was looking at a price-point below $400. The sale price listed on this item was $399, but I scored a perfect open-box for $299.
The setup was super easy and the sound quality is great for a 2.1 system. My only initial gripe is having to deal with another remote, however, I'm sure that I can program one of my other remotes to control the soundbar.

I went into the store thinking I wanted a stand alone receiver and floor speakers. I wanted the ability to occasionally use FM on the receiver, in addition to using the setup for home theater sound. However, for that rare occasion I want FM, this was a big price to pay. So I opted for the Sony with blue tooth, something not all the Bose products have. I can use a radio app from my phone, and stream music as well. The 440 watts sounds great, and fills the house. I did compare to Bose, and to Samsung and LG while in store. The Sony wins. And the blue tooth never drops, compared to my older LG sound bar.
