• Neither will make it "louder". Watts don't mean loud either. I own this amp and it's not particularly an efficient and powerful amp but serves my purposes. If you want just raw power you'll need to buy a different amp. I suggest going to the store and listening to amps played through speakers similar to yours.

• Yes you can use a preamp high imput amplifier. Not a low level preamp.
