There are at least half a dozen inputs (CD, DVD, TV, etc) that use RCA plugs in back. I think there is another variety also, but I didn't use those. You can then output to two sets (L and R for each set) of speakers (A, B, or A and B). Those have bare wire connectors (clips on the stereo).

A turntable would need to have a built in or external preamp. Two sets of external speakers can be selected using either or both or none (headphones).
