Q: QuestionSony 2-channel Hi-Fi Receiver, STRDH130 What kind of speakers would be good to use with this receiver?

• A:Answer My hubby had an old stereo in the garage for years. He was no longer able to receive his favorite channels clearly. We tried adding a new amp and a FM antenna booster. Neither worked. We then bought the Sony 2-channel Hi-Fi Receiver, STRDH130. The reception was good but his speakers sounded, old. So we also added the Polk T15 Black Bookshelf Speakers AM1565-C. All is good and the sound is really good now.

• A:Answer It should be no problem The Sony unit has sufficient power to run just about any speaker . There are some monsters like some Kliptsch but as far ARs Kenwoods etc should work fine. It will run a set of speakers and can handle to sets ( A B) but not at the same time. I like it a lot better than my old Sansui that had a scratchy built in.

• A:Answer This receiver will accept red and white audio (composite, aka RCA) cables and a 3.5mm audio cable (like the ones on wired earbuds and headphones). If your TV has either or both of these audio output sources you can plug either one into the Sony STR-DH130 Receiver and hear your TV. If you use a Satellite or Cable receiver as your video source, you can use the aforementioned composite cables from that receiver's audio output source and connect it to the Sony receiver. The speakers you mention will work with this audio receiver. Keep in mind that it is only a 2.0 channel receiver, so any audio from your video source that is say, 5.1 or higher will not sound the same as it would with a a multi-channel receiver. 2.0 audio receivers are fine for news, sports, talk shows, etc. and are fantastic for music audio; particularly with a turntable, CD or magnetic tape player. I bought this receiver to play LP's and with the Polk bookshelf speakers I have connected to it I am very satisfied with the sound.

Q: QuestionWe have an old turntable, a 90s casette player, and 10 year old CD player. Can we hook all three up? In other words, how many inputs are there on this device?

• A:Answer You can connect md/tape on tape input and output, connect cd on sa-cd/cd input but to connect the turntable you need a phono cartridge I guess you need to use sat,bd/dvd or video input. Hope this will help.

• A:Answer Speakers ohms don't make amplifier watts. Not sure what you are trying to do but it sounds like noise. 8 ohm speakers use less power to drive than 4 ohm but hooking 10 8 ohm speakers together does not make an 80 ohm anything they are all still 8 ohm speakers.
