Hi JohnP, the speakers are down firing. Thanks! ^Ron
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. As with all thin, narrow bezel televisions, sound is severely compromised by very thin speakers that face backwards. This set has two thin 1-3/8" x 5-1/4" rear facing speakers. The output volume is good, but somewhat tinny, and the clarity is reduced by the necessity for the sound to echo off a back wall. Don't expect anything like high fidelity. Also note that the standard audio out jack is MONO only and will not work with stereo earphones or other devices, even when using a splitter. In order to significantly improve sound quality, you will need a PCM or Dolby Digital device (soundbar or amplifier) using the optical digital out jack or an HDMI ARC Dolby Digital device through the HDMI-IN2 jack.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The sound is terrible. The speaker is in the back and very small
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The sound is very clear.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The speakers are my only disappointment, I was dismayed that Sony did not use better speakers. Most all thin screen tv's lack adequate space but with their technology ... I thought Sony could have done better with the speakers. Keep in mind , I paid only $229.00 ( on sale ) for this tv... I tied into my 5.1 home stereo and that's all it needed . I'm so glad its a Sony, I was wanting a a LARGER (dumb ..NON-Smart ) SONY , but really could not find what I was looking for . All in all I am VERY satisfied .
