“Does the guide button on the remote display the program playing as well as upcoming programs? or is it just what's playing in that time frame?”

guide shows all listings starting with the channel being viewed vertically. You also see time slots and programs horizontally . You can arrow right to see what is upcoming for the day or even a week or more. Arrow down will show numerically channels increasing in numbers - Channel 202, 203, 204, etc. Guide is excellent for seeing programming. Full features for seeing current and future dates, times, channels. I am very happy with this set. Sony is always the best I believe. Good luck
