Hi Mary, Thanks for inquiring about the TV. Yes, you can connect your VCR/DVD player to the HDMI or VIDEO IN port of this TV. If your VCR/DVD player has composite jacks (sockets), make sure to use an Analog Extension Cable (4 pole mini-plug RCA conversion cable) (not supplied). For more about the shape of the Analog Extension Cable, refer to this link: https://helpguide.sony.net/tv/jusltn1/v1/en-003/04-02_01.html Unfortunately, we can only recommend to use the supplied table-top stand or to install the TV with the compatible wall-mount bracket (not supplied). The TV is designed to be used with the table-top stand or legs if you're planning to put it on top of your Stand. The table-top stand supports the weight of the TV so it will not topple over, fall down, and cause personal injury or damage to the TV. Regards, Jess
