There is a way to set it so that it switches to external audio, which would allow you to change the volume with your other remote. It's in the advanced audio settings, I believe. As far as which remote controls volume, that's up to you. Once you set it to external audio, the volume control for the TV no longer functions as the TV itself is muted. So you'd have to use the remote for your receiver to adjust the volume (or a multi-device remote like the ones cable companies provide.)
