I'm *STILL* trying to get info from Sony about what the heck this set is. Going to call them after attempting to email twice. The X830C is garbage. The worst set I've ever seen from Sony, the worst set they sell by far. Sony's <$500 600B is a FAR superior set. The X830C uses an IPS panel (like all of LG's TVs, and some of Samsung's) which has horrifically bad contrast. 750:1 versus 3500-4500:1 for Sony's VA panel based TVs (even their cheap ones), which are the best there are (Samsung's are close, usually 2500-3500, but still not as good). Real world viewing backs up the numbers-dark scenes in shows are just a much of a few shades of black, where even cheaper Sony's pop with color in the same scenes. BUT the X800C may not be related to the X830C. If, for example, it's a smaller X810C, then it's probably a great set, and would be a MASSIVE upgrade from the X830C. ARGH! I just tried CALLING Sony now, and THEY didn't know either, and told me to post on their service forum, which I've just done. Tried throwing me to Best Buy too, which is worthless, they have no idea. If this is a VA set, it's probably pretty fantastic. If it's an IPS set like the 830C, it's garbage...and I'm worried because it's the same screen size as the 830C, which would make it seem likely it's using the same panel, but who knows...
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I Might be wrong but I think it's the same as this one http://www.sony.com.au/product/kd-49x8000c, http://www.sony.com.sg/electronics/televisions/x8000c-series, http://www.sony-asia.com/electronics/televisions/x8000c-series I think the non US model might be the 8000c or x80c I brought It and liked it a lot. I use as PC monitor it can do 4k 60htz 4:4:4. And 1080p at 120htz, Blacks are not the best and mine did not have any backlight Bleed
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Upgrade? The 830c would be a downgrade it sounds like people say it has terrible screen due to the IPS and 800c is VN.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.jrocket, what do you mean about blacks not being the best? How well does it handle dark scenes? Can you tell if this is IPS or VA? The main reason I'm holding off on buying this is I'm worried it's IPS like the X830C, which can't handle dark scenes AT ALL, I mean it's a joke. But if it's VA, it's probably about what I'm looking for. I've tried contacting Sony FOUR TIMES now and they've still been utterly worthless telling me what the heck this is.
