A: I'm *STILL* trying to get info from Sony about what the heck this set is. Going to call them after attempting to email twice. The X830C is garbage. The worst set I've ever seen from Sony, the worst set they sell by far. Sony's <$500 600B is a FAR superior set. The X830C uses an IPS panel (like all of LG's TVs, and some of Samsung's) which has horrifically bad contrast. 750:1 versus 3500-4500:1 for Sony's VA panel based TVs (even their cheap ones), which are the best there are (Samsung's are close, usually 2500-3500, but still not as good). Real world viewing backs up the numbers-dark scenes in shows are just a much of a few shades of black, where even cheaper Sony's pop with color in the same scenes. BUT the X800C may not be related to the X830C. If, for example, it's a smaller X810C, then it's probably a great set, and would be a MASSIVE upgrade from the X830C. ARGH! I just tried CALLING Sony now, and THEY didn't know either, and told me to post on their service forum, which I've just done. Tried throwing me to Best Buy too, which is worthless, they have no idea. If this is a VA set, it's probably pretty fantastic. If it's an IPS set like the 830C, it's garbage...and I'm worried because it's the same screen size as the 830C, which would make it seem likely it's using the same panel, but who knows...
A: I too had trouble and found nothing. I figured if google doesn’t know, then nobody does. After lots of frustration I searched the TV series on Best Buys Specifications page: “BRAVIA XBR X800C Series” Much to my surprise, there was a link to Sony’s Mexican market webpage. The model itself is related to the 810C for your research purposes. When I brought this to the attention to the blue shirts at the store…they weren’t surprised saying it’s not unusual the folks at corporate made a deal for a load of these to sell through in the US market. I bought it on sale for $699. Great TV, no complaints.
A: The television has a 120hz panel.
Q: Does this tv have Bluetooth capabilities?
A: Yes it does, but no one knows what Bluetooth hardware will pair with it as there are no specs on sony's website. In fact sony doesn't even list this model. My 2 sets of Bluetooth headphones do not pair, but the headphone output is nice because you can connect a Bluetooth transmitter that will pair with other headphones. My transmitter cost me $15, been using it a year...leave it connected to usb on TV for power and charging. The direct backlighting is a difinant plus and makes the picture awesome. Sound...better than average.
Q: Where can I pick this tv up? I'm in pembrooke pines
A: Hi Ajlt03, Please contact BestBuy for further assistance. Thanks, >Joffrey
Q: does the TV support 240 V AC?
A: No, this only uses 120V AC.
Q: Is this HDR?
A: Hi Tinker7683, No, the unit doesn't support HDR. ~Ralph
Q: How is the sound? Does this unit really require a sound bar for a small room?
A: You will definitely need a sound bar if your putting this in your living room. Otherwise, the TV sound is sufficient.
