I too had trouble and found nothing. I figured if google doesn’t know, then nobody does. After lots of frustration I searched the TV series on Best Buys Specifications page: “BRAVIA XBR X800C Series” Much to my surprise, there was a link to Sony’s Mexican market webpage. The model itself is related to the 810C for your research purposes. When I brought this to the attention to the blue shirts at the store…they weren’t surprised saying it’s not unusual the folks at corporate made a deal for a load of these to sell through in the US market. I bought it on sale for $699. Great TV, no complaints.

I've literally contacted Sony FOUR TIMES NOW trying to find out what this is, and have gotten zero information. After seeing how horrifically bad the X830C is at doing dark scenes, there's no way I'm buying a TV without knowing at least whether it uses VA or IPS. Referring people to Sony's site is completely worthless as they don't know and their support doesn't know, and will not find out. Apparently Sony doesn't want to actually sell this TV.

However, I wish you and jacko the best of luck if you ever have to contact Sony for technical support and they inform you they have no such TV. Meanwhile, I'm pretty happy with my Samsung so far (though it is still early).
