Yes it does lean back, I bought the TV without knowing this. My location is in the corner cutout in my living room about my gas fireplace which makes it even on a worse angle. I wish Sony would have put this info in their spec sheet or on the outside of the box so that consumers are aware. Also, when I called customer support they said that's the way it was engineered and there is nothing that can be done. They also said didn't you look at it at Best Buy where I purchased it. This TV as well as almost all others are wall mounted not on a provided stand. All other brands at Best Buys and all my previous flat screens are completely vertical.

I want to put the tv on a dresser and doubt that the engineered degree of tilt would be comfortable viewing from the bed. I doubt that I would enjoy the tilt even in the family room where the tv “stand” piece of furniture is lower @ 20” high. I and my neck much prefer slightly lowered viewing, I hate tilting my neck back to view a screen, even in a theatre. Shoulda bought when the center stands were still available, can hardly find them now on a better set.

That is why I tried to go through a lot of reviews and questions before making a purchase and getting it home. I ended up buying the 49” LG over the holiday even though I have never had an LG before and have always preferred Sony technology and display. This 49” Sony was actually cheaper than the 49” LG but the angled display and style of “legs” just didn’t work for where I wanted this in the bedroom. I wish companies would learn to understand that “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi, Maggie! The Android TV device is designed to lean back slightly on the stand in anticipation of setting it on a low TV rack. Your line of sight when sitting is 15 degrees lower than when you're in a usual relaxed state. It's considered ergonomical to set your TV at a lower position and tilted back by a couple of degrees. This way, you'll be able to enjoy watching TV programs comfortably. ~Ralph
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it does lean back. I. Didn't know until we placed it on my bedroom dresser. No big deal to me. I still love it. Sharp and the volume is loud enough therefore I don't need to buy speakers. I've only had it for a few weeks. I'm happy with my purchase.
