The TV has built-in applications like Netflix and YouTube and has an android based operating system which will let you install additional apps even without the Roku Box. If you still need to, you can connect the Roku device on the HDMI input of the TV. Roku usually needs HDMI to connect to and utilize its streaming capability. I hope this helps! -Carl

It's also a smart TV, so it has many apps ready to go right out the box with more that you can download through the Google Play store.
