The USB ports are intended to be used for external flash storage, not an iPod. An iPod requires MP3's to be logged into iTunes and formatted before an iPod could play the file. You would need to transfer the file on to a flash drive, move that to your computer, then copy the file into iTunes.

However, if you do own a portable MP3 player with recording capabilities, then you can connect the MP3 recorder’s line input jack to the line output jack on the Sony Changer.
