“I have a new Sony Bravia KD50x690 I use headphones so I won't disturb others. When I plug them in it turns off the TV sound. I plug them into the L side. Is there another choice?”

Hi riverridgeworker, you may need to reconfigure the sound settings on your TV if you want to hear the sound from your TV speakers and your headphones at the same time.
