I live in a major metro area, 15 miles from most transmitters. I have a Terk directional amplified antenna. It works great with this Sony set. I get all the signals that I should in this area. The TV tuner does a great job auto scanning for channels, just takes a minute and the set itself switches between channels super fast. Faster than a cable box, sweet !!!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have had no luck with Terk or any of The so called digital antennas. I have a ten dollar set of rabbit ears that I added to a set with the rabbit ears broken. I just have the UHF loop on this one. Remember the rabbit ears are for stations 2-13 and the loop is for stations 14 and up. It's all proximity and direction. I am on the 3rd floor with rabbit ears placed outside the window and the loop inside the window where I can move it around. I am directly between Baltimore MD and Washington DC. (20 miles). With placement in window facing north I receive 54 stations. The East window I get 8-12 stations. I have set up quite a few of these when I was installing Directv 20 years ago and 10 or 12 recently. I don't know how much effect these newer tuners matter. To sum it up you don't need these expensive new antenna. The higher the better and near or in a window is your best bet. Remember that I am 20 driving miles from each city, airways would be less. The signal sent from the station itself has a lot to do with it and time of day. Less clutter at night helps with some weaker signals. Hope this helps. I am upgrading to a 49- 60 inch soon.

Look up your geographic region to understand what channels are available in your general area along with things like direction to the tower from your location, signal strength of the channel in your general area, and whether you need a VHF or UHF antenna to get the particular channels. I have an antenna that allows me to pull in about a dozen or so channels including all four major TV networks. But getting them all to a high enough signal strength requires proper setup of the antenna along with using both a UHF and a VHF antenna. My parents would have the ability to use the exact same setup I have but only get 1 or 2 channels because that's all that's available in their area. The antenna and your geographic location define what's possible - not the TV.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.that depends on location and distance to antenna i.e. inside ,outside geographical location
