I've only had this TV for a couple of weeks but I did connect my Sony DVD player using the composite video and audio inputs with high quality cables, I believe they are Monster Cables. I've only tried one DVD to test my setup but was impressed with the picture quality...full screen (no black bars) and while it's not as good as HD cable or streaming the picture was excellent. Overall, I'm very happy with this TV.
