I called Sony and checked with the sales staff at 3 different Magnolia Centers. The simple answer is no, it does not have an 4k NexGen tuner. Will it play 4k dvd's in 4k display, it appears yes. Same holds true to the A9G.

You may want to check out our Bravia X900H. Support for ATSC/NEXTGEN TV (ATSC 3.0) will be added to the XBR X900H series TVs through a future software update. I hope this helps! -Vincent
