Thank you for reaching out and sharing your feedback, JimH. We are sorry to hear the picture quality on your new BRAVIA 2 isn't meeting that signature Sony sharpness you expect, and to answer your question directly, an older HDMI cable is very likely the culprit. Standard cables from the pre-4K era often lack the bandwidth to carry a high-definition 4K signal, which can result in a fuzzy or "soft" image. For the best experience with your BRAVIA 2, we recommend using a Premium High Speed HDMI cable that supports 18Gbps data transfer. Once you swap that cable out, you should see that signature Sony sharpness kick in! If a new cable doesn't do the trick, please don't hesitate to reach out to our support team here: https://us.esupport.sony.com/support/s/support-contact?language=en_US&category=tv. We want to make sure your picture is perfect. Thank you for choosing Sony! Best regards, Gus, Sony Social Media Team
