I believe HDMI 1, 2, 3 are INPUTS for receiving a signal from a DVD player or through a special patch cord connected to a laptop. The soundbar would be looking for the audio output. This is the "old" version where they offered an analog (1/8" stereo) output and a digital output. The next year model only offered a digital audio output.
