Click on the ‘Apps’ button on the remote. Scroll down until you see the ‘Video’ button and click on that. It should open your movies from the USB. Easy Peasy Cheers!

If you switch from the USB to another media (e.g. a TV program) the Sony TV will stop recognizing the USB. So to have the TV recognize the USB thumb drive again, you must unplug it, wait a moment, then reinsert the USB. After about 8-10 seconds, the TV will display the USB and options to open Photos, Music Video or to use it as Storage or Eject it. Kind of lame for a 2018 TV. Perhaps when Sony created the new HOME screen, they remembered the HDMI ports, video ports but forgot all about the USB port. Here's the problem with this procedure, removing the USB thumb drive manually, without proper "ejection" (e.i. using EJECT option), can damage the files on the USB drive. But if you change the content displayed on the TV, the TV no longer displays the USB options that includes "eject", so for the TV to recognize the USB again, you are forced to remove it manually, or eject the device BEFORE to switch content displayed Still Lame.

Yes.....after EVERY episode you watch from it. Get up.....walk over...pull out....put back in. *sigh* Luckily I discovered this on a friend's TV.....if it'd been mine.....I'd take it back. Unacceptable lack of technology for a modern TV. Just embarrassing for Sony.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. When you first plug in a USB device, a menu shows up on the screen indicating that a USB device has been connected, and asks you to open with "Album" (photos), "Music," "Video," or "Use as device storage." For some reason, "USB" does NOT show up under INPUT(s), so you can't go back to USB until you unplug and then plug the device back in (as far as I can tell). There is no MEDIA category under HOME, as Newbie900F indicated. I hope this helps.
