“I’m replacing my LG tv and one of the reasons is that any scene that takes place in the dark is almost impossible to see and all the brightness, contrast settings have been adjusted a zillion times. How well does the Sony perform in the dark?”

This tv performs well in the dark I replaced an LG tv because the picture went to purple tint all over the screen. Couldn't see in the dark. No matter how I adjusted the settings, could not get rid of the purple tint. You'll like how this one performs.

This TV includes an embedded light sensor that optimizes picture brightness to room conditions, boosting brightness in light rooms, and reducing it in dark ones to avoid extreme brightness, so you get the perfect view with this X80K. With Direct Lit LED TVs like our X80K, LEDs are positioned behind the entire panel and the entire screen is dimmed at once, however, the good news is that it has more LEDs than Edge Lit and it delivers better brightness and uniformity. Picture quality depends on the signal and content. Having said that, in addition to adjusting the different picture modes, you can also configure various settings related to the TV display such as color and brightness for picture quality, or screen size.
