I had to do the same thing. I kept the box and pieces the tv came in so when it was time to move I reboxed it. When transported I had it packed so it could not move and surrounded it with pillows and a blanket. Then I drove 3 hours, without wrecking. I transported it in its box standing up, I wouldn't recommend transporting it on its back or face.
