“A80J will turn my directv receiver on but not off when the tv powers on and off. Why? It’s also going thru the ir repeater built in. Also it’s not seeing my Onkyo TX-SR604 through an HDMI cable. Any suggestions? Or just get a digital optical cable?”

To automatically turn off your cable box, make sure to enable the [Device auto power off] on the BRAVIA Sync settings of the TV. If your receiver doesn't have eARC/ARC, you'll need to use an optical cable.
